Terms of Service

Last updated: January 2026. #BetterPosters provides free, open-source scientific communication templates for researchers worldwide.

1. CC0 1.0 Template License

The #betterposter templates are released under CC0 1.0 Universal, a public domain dedication. You are free to download, adapt, modify, print, and present them for any purpose — academic, educational, clinical, or commercial. No attribution is required and no citation is expected.

A small number of community and third-party layouts are published by their own authors under different terms — MIT’s Even Better Poster, for example, is CC BY-NC 4.0, which excludes commercial use. Each layout page states the licence that applies to it, and that statement governs where it differs from the default above.

2. Community Showcase Submissions

By uploading a poster or case study to the Community Showcase, you affirm that:

  • You have the full legal right and co-author consent to share the submitted visual graphics and findings.
  • You grant #BetterPosters a non-exclusive license to display the submitted image on our public web gallery and educational materials.
  • Your submission does not contain confidential patient data, unreleased patent disclosures, or copyright-infringing material.

3. Disclaimer of Warranties

The software, templates, and guides are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Conference rules, aspect ratios, and poster dimensions vary by society; please verify your venue guidelines before printing.
